What is an Ontario vehicle bill of sale?
A bill of sale records the vehicle, parties, price and date of a sale. Ontario requires the seller to give the buyer a signed bill of sale, and the buyer needs one when registering a privately purchased used vehicle.
What should be included in an Ontario bill of sale?
Ontario lists the VIN; make, year and power source; body type, colour and model if available; purchase price; seller name, address and signature; buyer name and address; and sale date. Ontario also says the bill of sale must be signed and dated by both buyer and seller.
Do I still need a UVIP (Used Vehicle Information Package)?
Usually, yes. For most Ontario private used-vehicle sales, the seller is legally required to provide a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP). Some transfers and vehicle types are exempt. This generator does not replace the UVIP, ownership transfer, safety certificate or other documents that may apply.
